The SEARCH project has formally launched its Scientific Advisory Board, which met for the first time the 12th of November in an online introductory session. During the meeting, the project leaders gave them an overview of the SEARCH’s objectives, methodology, and expected impact.

The advisory board is composed of 8 internationally recognised experts who will provide independent scientific advice to SEARCH partners across their respective areas of expertise for the full duration of the project.

Members of the scientific advisory board:

• Prof. Esmaeil Nadimi, Head of Unit, University of Southern Denmark. His research interests focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning, particularly their application to synthetic data. He is also involved in the AICE Horizon project on AI for colon capsule endoscopy.
• Prof. Niels-Henrik Holstein-Rathlou, Professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Renal and Vascular Research at University of Copenhaguen. Medical doctor with a background in mathematics, he has an extensive track record in data science, including mathematical modelling of the kidneys, chaos theory, and generative adversarial modelling.
• Dr Magnus Kjellberg, Director of the AI Competence Center at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He brings extensive experience in federated learning, synthetic data generation and privacy.
• Dr Pilib Ó Broin, Associate Professor in Bioinformatics, University of Galway. His research focuses on clinical bioinformatics, with a particular emphasis on genetic variation and biomarker discovery relevant to patient stratification.
• Dr Nathalie Virag, Senior director and general manager of the Medtronic Bakken Research Centre in Maastricht. She is also chair of the IHI. Her research interests involve in silico modelling of the cardiovascular system and medical devices.
