The SEARCH consortium held its annual meeting on 2 June 2026 in Limassol, Cyprus, bringing together representatives from the project’s 28 partner organisations to review progress and align priorities for the next phase of work. The meeting was hosted by the German Oncology Center (GOC), a SEARCH consortium partner and one of Cyprus's leading oncology and healthcare institutions.
The meeting focused on the readiness of the SEARCH federated platform, advances in synthetic data generation, and preparations for the project’s clinical validation activities. Partners discussed the integration of federated learning workflows, the performance of synthetic data generation methods across different clinical data modalities, and the pathways connecting synthetic data and clinical decision support systems.
As SEARCH approaches Month 24, consortium members also reviewed key milestones, identified technical and regulatory challenges, and discussed priorities for the coming months, with a particular focus on platform integration, data availability, clinical validation, and cross work package collaboration.
According to the project coordination team “as SEARCH approaches its midpoint, the meeting provided an important opportunity to align the consortium around some of the project's most important challenges, including data availability, interoperability, validation methodologies and the responsible use of synthetic data in healthcare. These discussions will help ensure that future developments remain both scientifically robust and clinically relevant.”
The discussions in Limassol reaffirmed the consortium’s commitment to developing a secure and privacy preserving ecosystem for healthcare data sharing, enabling the use of synthetic data and advanced clinical decision support systems to support healthcare research and innovation across Europe.
The meeting was followed the next day by the SEARCH workshop Synthetic Healthcare Data Generation and Clinical Decision Support Systems at IEEE CBMS 2026, where many consortium members presented and discussed recent advances in synthetic data generation and clinical decision support systems with the broader research community.
